School Day and Uniform

It is very important that children are in school on time. If they are late, it disrupts their day and their learning considerably.

School doors open for children to come in.

(They enter through the infant and junior playground gates. Member of staff on the corridor door to greet the children.)

Starting time for all the children. Gates and doors closed.

Late children need to enter through the main office.

10:25 – 10:40am

Morning break time for all the children.

11:45 – 12:45pm

Lunch break for Reception and KS1.

11:50 – 12:45pm

Lunch break for KS2.

1:40 – 1:50pm

Afternoon break for Key Stage 1 (infants) if needed.

School day finishes for all the children.

(Children leave from their classroom doors.)

The school doors are opened at about 8.20am to allow children to come inside, sort out their belongings and begin learning at 8.30am. Children who arrive after 8.30am need to go to the school office. Children are marked late if they are not in school by the time the register is closed at 8.40 in the morning and 12.55 in the afternoon.

If it is raining, the doors will be opened at 8.20am to avoid children getting too wet - please note that we have little shelter in the playground. If by any chance the school doors are not opened on time, please let a member of staff at the office know.

School Uniform

The school colours are navy blue and white and any combination of the following may be worn:

  • Navy skirt, pinafore dress or trousers
  • Navy jumper, cardigan or sweatshirt
  • White shirt or blouse, polo shirt, polo-neck sweater

In summer:

  • Blue and white gingham check or striped dress
  • Navy shorts
  • White short sleeved shirt or polo shirt.

Black shoes and plain black trainers are part of the school uniform. Shoes for girls should be suitable for physical activity during playtimes. High heeled shoes are a health and safety hazard in school and should not be worn.

It is expected that children come to school clean and tidily dressed in clothes suitable for the work they are expected to do, taking a pride in their appearance. Nail varnish, jewellery and makeup are not allowed in school. Large hair bows are not suitable for school.

Cloakroom space is limited so please send only small bags into school.

PE Kit

Children must be provided with a white T-shirt and navy shorts and a pair of slip on plimsolls with light coloured soles and trainers for P.E. when outdoors. A navy blue tracksuit may be worn for outdoor games, but is not suitable for indoor work.

PE kit should be kept in its own drawstring bag which can easily hang on the child’s peg in the cloakroom. The PE kit should be in school every day, taken home only during the holidays for laundering.

Swimming Kit

Trunks for boys and a one-piece costume for girls should be brought to school on the appropriate day and returned home the same day. Kit needs to be contained in a suitable, small bag that will hang on a cloakroom peg.

Goggles may only be worn on medical advice. These are worn at pupil’s own risk and parents must obtain and complete a disclaimer from the school office prior to goggles being used.

All items of clothing including uniform, P.E. Kit and swimming kit, should be clearly named.
