Drinks and Snacks
Infant children are provided with milk at morning playtimes. Due to funding changes by Lancashire County Council, unfortunately, children under five will only now receive free milk in school to the end of the term prior to their fifth birthday. For other KS1 classes, there is charge of £13 per term for this, details of which can be obtained from the school office. If your child is granted free school meals then he/she will also receive free school milk. Unfortunately, school does not have the funds to meet the cost in cases of non-payment and the provision of milk in this instance, sadly has to be withdrawn.
We provide children with water in a ‘sports bottle’ to keep in the classroom, so that they can have access to water at any time. This helps children’s ability to concentrate and avoids dehydration.
The school is part of the National Fruit for Schools scheme which means that all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are offered a free piece of fruit for their morning break. Children in Key Stage 2 may bring a small piece of fruit to eat at morning playtime if they wish.
Healthy Tuck Shop
The Mossgate Pupil Parliament (our school council) run a healthy tuck shop for Key Stage 1 and 2 children, selling a bowl of fruit for 30p at break times. Children can choose pieces from a wide variety of seasonal fruits.
